Resilience: Bounce back and move forward

Updated: Mar 28, 2020

Resilience is how quickly you recover from difficulties, it’s the ability to bounce back after you’ve been thrown off your game. Take a moment and ask yourself, can I adapt to life’s changes? Or do I stay in a position out of fear that it will disrupt my commonplace? Being resilient is not to be confused with having a “get over it” attitude, because somethings we may never “get over”. But we can take our L’s with class, recover and move forward.

When life throws us a curve ball we’re required to make decisions and sometimes on short notice. It’s very easy to fall into a day to day routine, because life can be habitual at times. So, when we’re hit with the unexpected we think “now what”? And that’s perfectly normal, but we can’t remain in that state because there are no answers there. Can we accept change? A new environment? A new relationship? A new job? Knowing when to “level up” requires change which in return improves resiliency.

If a man with prosthetic legs can compete in The Olympics or a child can invent the Braille reading system despite their misfortunes, then what’s our excuse? Examples of resilience are all around us we just have to understand that what we may think is impossible is possible with any adversities we may face.
